CE that starts with the SYMPTOM that walks in your door!
This time? SCOOTING.
One of the most common reasons pets see you.
One of the most commonly overthought.
The most frustrating is when it keeps coming back.
This two-week masterclass delivers practical, exam-room anal gland assessment, not academic theory. No fluff. Just real-world pattern recognition and strategic decision-making for scooting dogs and cats.
You'll learn how to approach scooting confidently, classify it correctly, and stop just expressing glands without asking why.
- 3×20-minute on-demand lessons (focused on dogs, cats, and how to treat them)

What You'll Learn About Handling Scooting! Cases In Practice
By the end of this masterclass, you’ll be able to:
Describe normal anal sac anatomy and function in dogs and cats
Review the location, duct anatomy and normal emptying of the anal sacs, how stool consistency affects drainage, and how clinical presentation differs between dogs and cats.
Identify underlying causes of recurrent anal sac disease
Examine chronic soft stool, GI disease, allergic skin disease, obesity and conformation as drivers of recurrence, and learn to treat a full sac as a clinical sign rather than a diagnosis.
Apply a drainage-first approach to treatment and appropriate antibiotic use
Manage impaction, sacculitis and abscess with expression, lavage and local therapy. Know when systemic antibiotics, culture, imaging or surgical referral are indicated.
Explain anal sac disease and recurrence prevention to clients
Use clear, non-graphic language to describe the problem and treatment plan, and set expectations for long-term management of recurrent cases.
